  • Research & Documentation

    June-November 2023

A nomination requires extensive research to prove out architectural and historic significance. Information from the reconnaissance survey is the foundation to build upon within a nomination with additional local and statewide research. Fieldwork will confirm and document the architectural styles of buildings in the Garden District as well as their garages and outbuildings. Photography is key to showing individual historic resources as well as the neighborhood’s context.

  • Public Engagement

    June 2023, Summer 2023 & Spring 2024

Nomination of the Garden District will include two public meetings - June 2023 and Spring 2024 (TBD) - in order to keep the residents and public informed of the nomination process and goals. An electronic survey will be developed and made available to gather valuable input to the city and it’s consultants. Select stakeholders will also be interviewed in order to get direct input on the nomination.

  • Review and Approval Process

    December 2023 - September 2024

A nomination typically goes through several revisions as it gathers input from city administrators, the Coeur d’Alene Historic Preservation Commission, stakeholders, and the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office. These revisions take several months and meetings to approve the nomination are publicly noticed before its discussion before public bodies.
